Oscars baby!

Ah, the Oscars. This year I only saw two of the ten movies nominated, Inglourious Basterds and UP. Both great flicks and certainly worthy of a nom. Avatar, Avatar , Avatar, blah, blah, blah! I was particularly excited to see A. Avatar lose and B. Sandra Bullock win. Both achieved!
It was nice to see the John Hughes tribute. Finally getting the recognition he deserved for his films, they were iconic. Too bad they couldn't do that while he was alive. The death montage is always sad, but this year it was because they left out Bea Arthur and Farrah Fawcett, who once again was forgotten. WTH? Don't get me started. But enough about the movies, let's talk fashion.

Hey James Cameron! This is what a winner looks like!
Kathryn Bigelow's dress was just okay but looked amazingly better flanked by two Oscars.
Class act!

A tux is a tux but these guys make it look soooo good!

Ryan Reynolds

Cutie pie Zac Efron

Meryl Streep has never looked better at an awards show!

*sigh* NEXT!

I love SJP and I think I am the only person who liked this dress. It's Chanel Haute Couture. It was different and I liked it so there. Now, the hair and the last minute spray tan, nuh-uh.

Anna Kendrick is adorable. Pretty dress but I'm not digging the fleshy pink tone.
I couldn't tell where she ended and the dress began.

"If fashion was porn, this dress is the money shot."
There are so many things wrong with that statement. Where do I begin?

George, George, George. Not. Feeling. The. Hair.

Who the hell are these two?
"SECURITY! We have a couple of Oscar crashers!
You're who? Antonio Banderas and Melanie Griffith? Oh, um, sorry. Carry on."

Helen Mirren is HOT! She could wear a paper bag and still look good.

Demi Moore aka Benjamin Button looked gorgeous as usual. The dress is beautiful but I would have loved it so much more if it were a different color, or any color for that matter.

Oh Dear God, will you either smile or please go away...

Oh my gawd Becky, look at her hip...it's like, so big.
Um, Jennifer, when your done with this I could really use this to pack my dishes in when I move. Thanks! Other than that, she is gorgeous.

And from the "Mother of the Bride" collection, Kate Winslet ladies and gentleman!

Yes, Zoe Can-can!
Okay, I have to be honest and say that I don't hate this.
I loved the top half. I like shiny things! I am completely on the fence...

And now for the LOSERS

James Cameron and his pompous Na'vi blue pocket square. Pretentious much?
And for God sakes, FEED YOUR WIFE!

What is Charlize Theron wearin'? Is she wearing Cinnabon?
t.w.i.t. and I can't help but wonder if she's paying tribute to Janet Jackson's 1993 Rolling Stone cover.

And the winners are:

Sandra Bullock. She looked flawless. Although I wasn't the biggest fan of the dress she had the best hair and make up of the night. With poise and grace,
she exemplifies what it means to be a star!

I am generally not a Cameron Diaz fan, but I was a fan of this dress. It was my fav until I saw...

Elizabeth Banks! Best dressed from head to toe. Perfection!

  1. Wow, it's like I wrote this post! I agree with everything you said here!

Elizabeth Banks was my favorite dress of the night. Hands down. I thought the color of that dress was awesome.

I, too, liked SJP's dress. Her hair sucked a bit. She wore that same hair to Charlotte's wedding on SATC. I hated it then too.

I can't believe Clooney looked bad. I didn't think it was possible. He looked...off.

Goodness, Charlize Theron. I might be the only person to think it but I didn't hate it. I didn't love it but I didn't hate it. On anyone else, I probably would have, but somehow she pulls it off. She's gorgeous, she makes even the Princess Leia hair as boobs work...Maybe? Just a tiny bit? No? Ok, yeah, it must just be me.

I harbor such discontent for that Twilight chick. Why does she always walk around with such a sour puss? Who needs her?

I love montages and I love John Hughes' movies. So a montage of John Hughes' movies made my night. Definitely a highlight of the show.

(I've put "Up" on my Netflix queue.)

  2. I would wear the dress that SJP had on for sure.

I think Cameron Diaz was my favorite. She looked BEAUTIFUL.

Antonio Banderas does everything in his power to be as unattractive as possible. He reminds me of my dad. They both grow these disgusting beards and pair it with greezy, too long hair. Yuck.

  3. Okay, so I just finished watching Fashion Police on E! and I agreed with most of them. Yay! I'm glad Guiliana sided with me (as well as AthenaBee and Mickey D.) on SJP's dress. I still like it!
I had to laugh at Guiliana talking about Charlize's Cinnabon dress. Go and look at my tweets. GO! I tweeted it RIGHT after I saw her!! So, no I didn't see FP before I wrote this post.
I also read today that the reason Farrah wasn't recognized was because she was primarily a TV star, I guess that's why Bea Arthur wasn't in the montage either. Which begs the question, why the hell is MJ in it? Whatevs...

  4. I hate Khloe Kardashian on the Fashion Police. She is not articulate and just bitches about everything in that whiny voice of hers. Joan Rivers, on the other hand, is hilarious.

    Just wanted to mention that.

  5. Loved your recap. And, I agree with you about Khloe Kardashian. Is it ok if I call her a douche?

    :)
