To wean or not to wean

What is the deal with Suri Cruise and the bottle? She's TWO! Does anyone else think this is weird? We are talking about the Crazy Cruises but c'mon! My kids were off the bottle by one. It must be a Scientology thing.

  2. I don't give a crap if they feed her with chopsticks...I just think it's weird. It's an opinion, that's all. :o)

  4. Now I agree with getting rid of the bottle at one. Both my kids did, but I can't say too much because my two year old still sucks on a buppy ( binky/pacifier).

  6. from MSN:

Another weekend, another photo op family outing for Tom Cruise, who was snapped with be-bobbed wife Katie Holmes and kids Suri, 2, Connor, 13, and Bella, 15, as they cheered on pal David Beckham Saturday during a soccer match in Carson, Calif....Suri seemed eager to escape the loud crowd. In between sucking on her bottle (those wondering "Why not a sippy cup?" can just keep wondering -- we don't know either), she covered her ears and buried her face in her comeback-minded dad's Mr. Rogers-esque, sweater-clad chest.

  7. I'm not over the fact that neither of them have changed their hair style in the last 6 months.

Bottles are a little weird, especially at two... but I don't have kids so I can't really comment on that one...

  8. It may be weird, I don't have kids and I get all sorts of confused when kids should or shouldn't be doing things. ;)

I think though the weirdest thing in the picture is that little suri is playing with a shoe?!?! Can we verify that she IS in fact holding a shoe...it looks like it to me! And if it is a shoe I am sure that it is an expensive designer shoe. So apparently she gets that instead of a blanket or a doll from Target?!?! That. Is. Weird.

  9. Oh, my bad. She gets a blanket AND a designer shoe. I guess that is ok. ;)

  10. wrestling kitties- I was trying to see what kind of shoe she was holding. Yeah, that may actually be weirder than the bottle.
jill marie- My oldest was two when he finally gave up his binky. I think that is harder to give up than a bottle.

  11. I just got the latest US Weekly and low and behold there is an article with this very picture! The shoes are $595 Roger Vivier kitten heels. He made a custom pair just for Suri to match her mommy. It also shows several pictures of her with the bottle. They quoted a pediatrician that says doctors recommend giving up the bottle by age 1.
She is such a CUTE little girl even with that bottle!

  12. I was feeling bad buying $40 shoes for my kids. $500?!?! INSANE. They grow out of them in a few months, if that! But I guess $500+ for them is like $40 for me.

I let my 15 month old take a bottle at nap and night (but sippy cup other times). It helped soothe him and he loves that bottle. BUT at 16 months, I was finally like, Buddy, you do not need this thing (most give it up at one year). It does affect kids teeth, I think. Anyway, isn't that one Lea Remeny (sp?) a scientologist and her daughter was still on a bottle at 4 years old?
